Mona

M.O.N.A. (Mechanical Omnipresent Network Analyzer) is a mapping project exploring what it means to be alive when obsolete technologies are reanimated into a single entity. Built from CRT televisions, projection, and interactive sensors, Mona constantly reacts to her environment, seeking human interaction as she tries to “feel human” herself.
The first version featured 4 CRT TVs with sound and scenography, where a webcam and Kinect detected presence and movement. The second version expanded into 11 CRTs and a foamcore head, with visuals reimagined through RGB color modes symbolizing Mona’s perception of the world:
Red – The Flesh: immediate perception
Green – The Data: raw analysis
Blue – The Mind: perception beyond the eyes
In her final form, Mona had sculptural roots that users could touch to modify the CRT visuals, amplifying the overwhelming flood of information she receives. I was responsible for the installation, system integration, and technical direction, ensuring that all components (visuals, interactivity, and mapping) merged into one coherent, reactive entity.
